Dan Brindle is a partner at ZY Partners in Beijing and has more than 20 years of experience in Asia. He supports multinational clients with operations in China as well as Chinese clients with interests in the United States. Mr. Brindle helps clients develop effective government relations strategies to complement their legal strategies, and also helps clients assess and mitigate risk across their business, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and anti-corruption, as well as compliance and related investigative matters.
Mr. Brindle was recruited by GlaxoSmithKline in 2014 to oversee and implement the corporate strategy in response to the landmark bribery case in China, the first, and most high-profile, criminal case against a foreign company in China. He has also led efforts to develop comprehensive intellectual property enforcement strategies for multinational companies in China and has been involved in patent enforcement litigation in multiple jurisdictions across China.
With deep interest in and commitment to the US-China relationship, Mr. Brindle works to develop and promote successful government relations in China, Asia and the rest of the Emerging Markets. He supports clients in business development and related complex commercial matters in the region, with a particular emphasis on government relations, legislative affairs and lobbying, as well as regulatory and market access related issues.
He is a past Chair of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Life Sciences Innovation Forum (LSIF) and has counseled governments and commercial clients across the APEC economies and the Emerging Markets throughout his career. He is also a former Board member of the US- ASEAN Business Council.
Mr. Brindle previously served as Legislative Counsel to United States Senator Frank H. Murkowski (Alaska). He worked across a number of key areas related to United Statespolicy toward Asia, including energy, trade and national security / defense.
Admitted to the State Bar of California in 1996, Mr. Brindle has resided in Asia for more than 20 years, including Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taipei. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and has limited proficiency in Japanese and Spanish.
